I'm Sure It's Only an Accident They're Called Representatives
You know, with all the bribery and money laundering scandals, the overwhelming evidence that too many see public office as a means of self-service and wealth building, with all the lobbying, lying, and hypocrisy, one might easily lose faith in our politicians.
But thankfully we have an incredibly self-correcting system. The Constitution allows Congress to make its own rules and decide any punishments for its own members. We have a brilliant two party system wherein the party in control is always held in check by the other. And no matter how bad things seem, no matter how outnumbered the good guys are, someone is always willing to take a stand for what is right. As more and more Republicans are lining up for their indictments, I'm so glad there are Democrats on the ethics committee who can pipe up and make sure justice is done. Take Alan Mollohan for example. In response to the toothless response Republicans offered to all the nasty doings in Congress Alan, the top Democrat on the Ethics Committee, said, "If we're going to have an ethics committee, we have to do it right," He said the current rules would "defeat the very purpose of the ethics committee, and that's to have credible investigations." Excellent. Keep fighting for what's right, make a good showw of it.
Well done, Alan.
